The Music, Theatre, and Dance Department at Rhode Island College invites applications for the full-time, academic year position of Manager, Costume Shop/Theatre.
The individual will manage an academic costume studio. Organize a wide variety of costume and studio needs in a highly integrated production and design process. Perform and oversee activities in a student team-sharing atmosphere. Coordinate, schedule and directly oversee all activities performed daily, especially by laboratory and student assistants. Perform and oversee pattern drafting, draping, cutting, altering, fitting, stitching and hand finishing of costumes (in timely fashion), according to production needs. Perform and oversee costume crafts, millinery, wig, makeup and wardrobe styling requirements. Oversee production schedules and ensure against safety hazards. Correlate and keep wardrobe and dresser requirements on schedule; organize and maintain the costume studio and inventory; and maintain an atmosphere supporting all skill levels.
