Join a team of dedicated railroaders to provide vital maintenance and services to trains, so they can continue to serve Union Pacific customers across North America! As a Mechanical Service Operator, you’ll be responsible for everything from stocking locomotives with necessary materials to cleaning assigned areas to help operate locomotives in shop and service areas. On this vital team, you’ll become familiar with all functions of the shop environment and will gain a big-picture understanding of Union Pacific's mechanical operations! Accountabilities
Restock locomotives with all necessary materials, including drinking water, sand, and spare parts
Clean interiors and exteriors of locomotives including floors, parts, and engine car body
Perform air brake tests and inspect materials, equipment, and machinery for any defects or unsafe conditions
Operate locomotives between various shop locations, service tracks, and switching areas, and line switches and operate derails to assist hostlers
