The Library Assistant provides excellent customer service to diverse and geographically dispersed users which include University faculty, staff, students and community members. This position is part of the Access Services team, which is responsible for enabling physical access to university library collections and library spaces. This department is responsible for services relating to circulation, reserves, stacks management, interlibrary/intercampus loan, and space management. This position is cross-trained on functional areas within the department. The position requires a sophisticated competence in various computer systems, including Innovative Interfaces (Sierra), Ares, ILLiad, OCLC, Swift, and Prospector. Maintains the order of the building and is responsible for the opening or closure of the library. Mediates stressful situations related to patron concerns. Provides customer service to colleagues within the department and across other library departments. Contributes to a collaborative team environment. This position is 1.0 FTE and will be responsible for closing the building.
