ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN LEAD
Several full-time positions available with KCMO’s Water Department, Meter Field Services Division, 1720 Wabash Ave and Stormwater Investigations & Inspections Division, 1800 Prospect Ave. Meter Field Services: Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Utilizes water leak detection equipment to pinpoint water main breaks and leaks and resolving service requests. Submits work orders to dispatch for Pipeline repair to make needed repairs to the utility. Responds to the following call outs for residential and commercial properties: high and low pressure, dirty water, sounds on service, locate and operate service valves, 3rd party damage to the main or service, all fire hydrant issues. Contacts and leaves a customer service notice to residents when a leak is past the first valve and is the responsibility of the property owner to make needed repairs. Performs emergency shut offs due to flooding and repairs. Addresses roadway valve lids, line valve lids, zone scan installations, removals and inspections, tile meter leak on small meters, small tile meter bursts, and other calls that run after hours. Utilizes as-built water main plans and GIS information to determine pipe sizes, valve locations and service connections when inspecting water leaks and service disruptions. Determines the water main distribution system configuration using engineering plans and GIS information to isolate water mains for repair and construction activities. Inspects the installation of leak monitoring equipment and analyze the data collected to identify defects and determine needed repairs and replacements. Stormwater: Normal Work Days/Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Investigates Storm Water and Investigates Storm Water and Wastewater concerns and requests. Documents information in Hansen and writing work orders for Storm Water and Wastewater cleaning. Repairs crews for work needed to ensure that the sewers are maintained and in good working condition. Resolves assigned service requests in Hansen and/or reassigning service requests to the CCTV investigations section.
