Facilities Engineer is responsible for administrative and technical work involving the application of engineering principles and practices to ensure that public facilities are designed, constructed, renovated and maintained and managed in a safe, environmentally healthy and cost-effective manner. The employee in this class exercises considerable independent judgment in making recommendations and decisions to resolve engineering problems in a variety of governmental facilities. A higher-level administrative or technical employee, dependent upon the governmental jurisdiction, exercises general supervision over an employee in this class. Assignments are received from the supervisor through conference and work is reviewed during progress and upon completion by submission of reports, visual observation and comment. Supervision may be exercised by this class over subordinate engineering and trade personnel. Does related work as required.
