Dr Irani’s research group is a translational neuroimmunology lab with a team of 10 individuals. Many have joined Mayo after working with him in Oxford, UK. They are a vibrant and collegiate group, passionate about their work and dedicated to addressing the most pressing challenges confronting their patients. Their major aim is to solve the immunobiology underlying neurological illnesses, with a focus on causes of encephalitis and neuromyelitis optica, in addition to forms of epilepsy and dementia. Towards this goal, the team aim to clone multiple monoclonal antibodies from their patients.
